Own Your Story, Own The Room – Masterclass

Own Your Story, Own The Room  is a one-day workshop that challenges you to show up as your most courageous and magnificent self through the power of live storytelling. This unique masterclass in personal narrative will give you the tools for confidence, personal presence and leadership in a small group setting.

Devised by award-winning speaker and story archaeologist Beverley Glick and bestselling author and acclaimed writer/performer Yang-May Ooi, the workshop brings together their wealth of experience and talent so you can learn the secrets of:

# finding the powerful stories in your life

# transforming adversity in your life into inspiration for others

# lean storytelling that will keep your audience transfixed

# discovering the courage to stand before an audience and tell your inspiring story

# confident body language for performance

And it doesn’t stop there. The workshop can help you:

# develop a more empowering version of your life story

# become an inspiring role model to others

# walk into any room with confidence and presence – whether it’s a party or a business meeting or a roomful of strangers

# speak like a leader with clarity and confidence

This workshop is suitable for anyone who wants to learn how to find and tell their story with a view to speaking in public or sharing their story at live storytelling events such as The Story Party – AND for anyone looking to increase their confidence and personal impact through learning storytelling and performance skills in a fun, fresh setting.

Own Your Story, Own The Room is a masterclass in live storytelling as a confidence building tool and communication skill. There will be no written stories or writing exercises – instead we’ll be getting you up on your feet telling it like it is.

Storytelling is a performance so we’ll also be playing some theatre games to get you in your body and having some lively fun. Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that allow you to move around with ease. Please bring plenty of water to keep hydrated.

This is an exclusive workshop with a maximum number of 8 participants only to allow plenty of time and space for you to develop your story and performance skills.

“Beverley and Yang May were a great team with a lovely blend of demonstrating both the performance and structure of storytelling. They both provided exceptional feedback to the storytellers, which was very motivational, but also contained constructive developmental points to help people improve.” – Lorraine Naylor

“This is a workshop that enables you to take a leap forward in your public speaking and storytelling journey, wherever you are currently. Beverley and Yang-May are consummate professionals who understand their subject and present it in a very clear and entertaining manner, with plenty of time to put your learning into practice.” – Elaine Hopkins

“It was a wonderfully inspiring day. I found a story I hadn’t considered telling, and was bowled over by what everyone else produced, especially if they hadn’t told their story before. Practical and supportive throughout. Beverley and Yang May share their skill and knowledge with clarity and a light touch. I warmly recommend it.” – Ann Lewis

There are no further workshops planned during 2015 while Yang-May prepares for the three week run of her solo show Bound Feet Blues.
